近年来,学院的科研工作取得了较多的成果。获得了多项省部级奖励,申请发明专利100余项,其中已授权发明专利近40项,近5年发表SCI收录论文50余篇,最高影响因子为15.49。
研制成功的贝氏体铁路撤叉耐磨钢新材料被列入国家科技成果重点推广计划,在全国推广应用,产值数亿元。研制成功的QPQ(盐浴氮碳氧多元共渗)处理新技术,在全国推广应用,在此基础上,进一步研究出了可控离子渗入技术,在降低了共渗温度,减少了零件的变形量的同时,显著提高了深层的耐磨耐蚀性,该项技术于2107年通过鉴定,正在大力推广应用之中。在铝合金、镁合金表面陶瓷化技术研究方面,研制出了成套的设备与技术,已推广使用,获得四川省科技进步二等奖1项。研制出的硬质合金涂层成套设备与技术,销往广东、重庆、四川等地,获得了用户的好评。
